Once a soldier who served in the in the navy, Kennedy returned home to the United States and ran for Congress then later continued on to be member of the Senate, and eventually became President. His economic programs led the country forward into its longest sustained expansion since World War II and paved the way for plans to end the rise of pockets of privation and poverty.
